One of the most exciting parts about my job as a 2nd AC is working with BAFTA new talent winner Alan McLaughlin. I learned a lot by watching him work, setting up shots, making decisions regarding which lens to use for what purpose, which filter to put on and how to coreograph the camera. He always pushes himself not to use the same bag of tricks to learn on each film he works on. He creates a professional working enviroment in the camera department. Albeit demanding and stressful, it is great for me to learn how a professional camera team is working. With all the different set ups and a van-load of gear, this job is a real baptism of fire.
